Visakhapatnam Central Jail

Visakhapatnam Central Jail is a major detention center located about 14 kilometers from the city center in the Adavivaram area, serving inmates from several northern coastal districts. The facility houses different categories of prisoners, including those serving sentences, those awaiting trial, and those held under various legal statuses.

This facility opened in 2001, replacing an older prison from 1908 that once stood near the current Bus Station location. The original site was later transformed into a public park after the relocation.
