Tomb of Aurangzeb, Mughal tomb in Khuldabad, India
The burial site contains a marble cenotaph with Quranic inscriptions enclosed by a marble screen installed in 1911 by Lord Curzon.
Emperor Aurangzeb, who ruled India for five decades until 1707, requested burial near his spiritual teacher Sheikh Zainuddin at this location.
The tomb structure reflects Islamic architectural elements while maintaining simplicity, diverging from the grand monuments typical of Mughal rulers.
The site stands 24 kilometers from Aurangabad city and remains under protection by the Archaeological Survey of India with regular security measures.
The construction costs totaled 14 rupees and 12 annas, funded by Aurangzeb through his earnings from stitching caps during his final years.
