Amberger Hütte, Alpine refuge in Längenfeld, Austria
The Amberger Hütte is a mountain hut located at 2,135 meters (7,005 ft) in the Stubaier Alps at the end of Sulztal valley. It offers 39 dormitory beds and serves as a base for hikers and mountaineers exploring the area.
The hut was established in 1888 with just eight beds for climbers and travelers. It has been expanded multiple times over the decades to accommodate growing visitor numbers.
The hut is run by the Gstrein family and features wooden interiors typical of the Tyrolean region. Guests experience traditional hospitality and enjoy regional dishes prepared on-site.
The hike from Gries parking area takes about two hours on a marked trail with roughly 600 meters of elevation gain. The route is accessible to hikers of varying fitness levels and provides a straightforward path to the hut.
From here, hikers can access multiple peak routes including Sulzkogel, Kuhscheibe, and Schrankogel. The hut also sits along two major long-distance trails: the Ötztal Trek and the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde.
