Arnstein power plant

The Arnstein power plant is a reservoir hydroelectric facility in Krottendorf-Gaisfeld that uses water stored in a dam to produce electricity. The installation consists of several technical components, including pressure pipelines and a machine hall, which work together as an integrated system.

The Arnstein power plant was built between 1922 and 1925 and was one of the early hydroelectric facilities in Austria. The installation emerged at a time when hydroelectricity was being introduced as a new energy source in the region.

The Langmann reservoir supplies the facility with water and is held back by a compact gravity dam. Water storage is essential for continuous operation of the plant throughout the year.
