Rofanseilbahn, Aerial lift in Eben am Achensee, Austria
Rofanseilbahn is a cable car that climbs from the valley floor at 931 meters (3,050 feet) to the mountain station at 1,840 meters (6,035 feet) in roughly five minutes. The system connects the Achensee region directly to alpine terrain and mountain trails in the Rofan range.
The cable car was built to open the Rofan Mountains to wider public access. Since its opening, it has served as the main connection between the valley and alpine elevations in this region.
The mountain station provides direct access to traditional Tyrolean mountain huts, including the Erfurter Hütte, where visitors experience local Alpine customs and cuisine.
The cable car operates during the warmer months between May and October with extended hours during peak season. Weather conditions can affect service, and busy days typically see longer waits at the station.
The AIRROFAN Skyglider sits at the top station and gives visitors a controlled descent experience toward Mauritzalm at speeds around 80 kilometers per hour (50 miles per hour). Many people miss this activity when exploring the mountain area.
