Petrovski krast, Megalith and summit in Godech, Bulgaria
Petrovski krast is a megalith and summit in the Chepan mountain range rising to about 1,200 meters with open terrain offering views in all directions. Exposed rock formations and a large stone cross dominate the landscape on the upper reaches.
The site reflects a long tradition of religious use visible in its ancient stone formations. The large stone cross has been maintained across generations and continues to define the place today.
A small chapel stands near the summit, marking the spiritual significance of this location for nearby communities. The arrangement of stones and religious symbols on the ridge shows how important this place remained for people across different eras.
The hike starts from Dragoman road on a marked eco-trail and takes about 90 minutes to reach the summit. The open ridge offers little shelter from wind, and there are no water sources along the way, so bring water and appropriate gear.
The location contains complex rock formations that may predate the chapel built later on the site. Some of the stone arrangements could be prehistoric in origin, formed well before the religious structures were added.
