Daskalov House

The Daskalov House is a two-story residential building with expertly carved wooden ceilings in different rooms throughout the structure. The ceilings feature various sun motifs and were crafted by skilled local artisans.

The building was constructed in 1808 as a residence for the sons of a wealthy merchant. During the 1960s it was converted to showcase the work of local carvers to the public.

The house displays how wealthy families lived during the Ottoman period and what role carved ceilings played in their daily home life. The handcrafted details reflect local artistic traditions and the family's prosperity.

The house is located in the old town area and is easily reached on foot from the city center. Visitors should allow enough time to examine the detailed carvings in each room carefully.

One master carver spent months creating a ceiling with many different floral designs without repeating a single pattern. This remarkable achievement reveals the depth of the local woodcarving craft.
