Established in 1963, the institution preserves the legacy of the Tryavna Art School, which developed distinctive woodcarving and painting techniques since the 17th century.

The exhibitions demonstrate the methods and skills of local craftsmen through various wood carved items, religious paintings, and architectural decorative elements.

The museum building, situated at 7 Captain Dyado Nikola Square, opens year-round with specialized guided tours available in multiple languages.

Visitors can observe contemporary woodcarvers demonstrating traditional techniques in dedicated workshop spaces within the museum complex.
