Atrium on Bay, Shopping and office complex in downtown Toronto, Canada
Atrium on Bay is a shopping and office complex made of aluminum and glass in downtown Toronto, featuring 14 above-ground floors and 3 basement levels. The structure spans the intersection of Bay Street and houses a mix of retail shops, office space, and government service centers.
The complex was designed by Page and Steele Architects in 1981, replacing the former Ford Hotel Toronto on this site. The project was part of the city's urban renewal efforts that transformed this key downtown area during the 1980s.
The complex houses one of the largest MUJI stores outside Asia, bringing this Japanese retail experience to downtown shoppers. The store draws both locals and visitors who appreciate its minimalist design and carefully curated product selection.
The complex connects to Toronto's PATH network and sits beside Dundas subway station, making it easy to reach by public transit. Underground parking is available, and the building links directly to the Toronto Eaton Centre for additional shopping and services.
The structure has four elevators serving the 48-meter (157 feet) building, moving visitors efficiently between levels. What many people overlook is that the complex houses multiple government service departments, making it a practical hub for administrative matters.
