Deer Park United Church, Gothic Revival church in Toronto, Canada
Deer Park United Church is a brick structure at 129 St. Clair Avenue West featuring pointed arches, steep gables, and ornate stone details in the Gothic Revival style. The building completed in 1913 displays the distinctive architectural elements characteristic of this movement.
The congregation began in 1881 as Deer Park Presbyterian Mission and completed its Gothic Revival building in 1913. This structure became a landmark in the neighborhood and shaped the local community for over a century.
The church serves as part of Churches-on-the-Hill, an ecumenical group of nine religious institutions that coordinate community programs and shared activities.
The church now operates from its new location on Delisle Avenue, where the congregation shares space with Calvin Presbyterian Church. Visitors should check service times beforehand, as scheduling may differ due to the shared arrangement.
After a heating system failure in 2008 caused by damage from nearby construction, the congregation left its original home and relocated. Despite the move, the community continued its worship and mission activities at the new location.
