Wilkie Sugarloaf trail, Mountain hiking trail in Victoria County, Canada
Wilkie Sugarloaf trail is a hiking route on northern Cape Breton Island that passes through open ground and forest sections on its way uphill. The path winds through changing landscapes before reaching its summit point.
The area was once the site of a surveying station used to map the region. This surveying work left marks that remain visible today.
The path became part of the Cape Breton Highlands 3 Peaks Challenge in 2010, where local hiking groups test their endurance on multiple mountain ascents.
Trail access starts at Bay St. Lawrence Road near a well-known local landmark. Markers along the path help hikers stay on route.
From the summit, visitors can explore two separate viewpoints that each offer different views of the coastal landscape. These locations provide varying perspectives on the island's natural geography.
