Noflen, Agricultural settlement in Bern-Mittelland district, Switzerland
Noflen is an agricultural settlement in the Bern-Mittelland district situated on a terrace overlooking the Gürbetal valley with homes both on higher ground and along the valley floor. The community spans terrain marked by open fields and pastures that shape its rural character.
First mentioned in 1250 under the name Novelon, the settlement came under the control of monastery lands and aristocratic estates during the 13th and 14th centuries. Agricultural activity has remained central to the area throughout its recorded history.
The population maintains strong ties to agricultural traditions, with over 81 percent of the municipal land dedicated to farming activities and local food production.
The village is well served by regular bus connections to surrounding areas making it accessible for visitors. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended if you plan to explore the fields and paths on foot.
In 2018 the settlement merged with Gelterfingen and Mühledorf to form the new municipality of Kirchdorf. This administrative change reshaped the area's governance structure.
