Crystal Wing, Steel roller coaster in Happy Valley Beijing, China
Crystal Wing is a steel flying coaster at Happy Valley Beijing where riders sit in a horizontal flying position as if soaring through the air. The train holds seven cars arranged four seats wide, carrying passengers through intense turns and inversions along its winding path.
The coaster was built by Bolliger & Mabillard and opened to visitors in 2006 at Happy Valley Beijing. The flying design concept was part of a series of similar rides that became popular across theme parks worldwide.
The ride follows an identical layout to several Superman-themed coasters found throughout Six Flags parks in the United States.
Riders should brace for intense G-forces during the rapid turns and inversions, especially through the airtime sections. It's helpful to secure loose items and familiarize yourself with safety restraints before boarding the ride.
The ride features two complete inversions including a pretzel loop and horseshoe maneuver while riders fly horizontally through the air. This combination of flipping and horizontal flight creates an unusual sensation of floating and plunging at the same time.
