Kilometrovka, Historic tree alley in Plzeň, Czech Republic.
Kilometrovka is a tree-lined alley in Plzeň that extends roughly one kilometer from Kalikovský Mill to Lochotín Park. The passage brings together different tree species, including ash, linden, and black poplar, with some specimens reaching over 200 years of age.
The alley was surveyed in 1892 and planted in 1893 by a local beautification society. It crosses through the Lochotín meadows in the Mže River valley and has shaped the region since its creation.
The name Kilometrovka comes from the roughly one-kilometer stretch this tree-lined path covers. The mixed plantings have shaped the local landscape and remain a gathering place for walks and outdoor time today.
The best time to walk here is from May to October, when the trees are in full leaf. The alley is easy to explore on foot and the flat path works well for visitors of any ability level.
The trees were not all planted at the same time but spread across several years after the alley was begun. This creates today a natural mix of different ages and growth patterns along the same path.
