Einmannbunker na haldě dolu Michal

The single-person bunker on the Michal coal mine dump is a small cylindrical concrete structure standing on the mound in Michálkovice. The building offered views across the industrial landscape and served as a watching point for monitoring activities.

The structure was built during World War II, when such observation posts appeared across Europe to protect industrial facilities. It was part of the region's broader defensive preparations against air attacks.

The bunker marks a place where industrial activity and wartime defense overlapped, showing how workers and guards needed to monitor their surroundings during the war. Its location on the old mine dump connects the region's coal-mining history with the protective measures of that era.

The bunker sits on the grounds of the former mining site and is accessible from the nearby road, with an information panel explaining its appearance and original purpose. Visitors can reach it on foot while observing the hilly terrain of the area.

The structure has kept its original gray concrete surface, while other similar bunkers in Ostrava were painted over during later conservation work. This preservation of its original state makes it a rare example among the city's surviving defense buildings.
