Hockenheimring, Motorsport racing track in Hockenheim, Germany
The Hockenheimring is a motorsport circuit in Hockenheim within the Rhine Valley, measuring 3.736 meters and combining fast straights with technical corner sequences. Today's layout connects open sections with a compact infield that drivers navigate multiple times per lap.
The facility emerged in the 1930s as a test track in a forested area and gradually evolved into an international racing venue. In 2002, the original triangular layout with long forest passages was abandoned in favor of a more compact form with tighter track routing.
The Motodrom forms the heart of the facility and gives spectators from stadium seating a direct view of key corner sequences. Motorsport fans watch drivers brake, accelerate and turn into tight bends at close range.
The site can be used in different configurations, from the full Grand Prix track to shorter national variants. Visitors find signposted spectator areas and service points along the main access routes.
Since 1989, the complex has operated its own drag strip for acceleration racing, regularly hosting European championships. The combination of a classic circuit and a quarter-mile straight makes this site one of the few places in Europe with two different racing formats on the same grounds.
