Obergiesing-Fasangarten, Administrative borough in southeastern Munich, Germany

Obergiesing-Fasangarten is a district in southeastern Munich that blends residential neighborhoods with commercial zones across a wide area. The borough features single-family homes mixed with apartment buildings and shops, creating a varied landscape of streets and squares.

This area originated around 790 as Kyesinga, predating Munich itself by centuries. The neighborhood was formally incorporated into the city in 1854 and has developed as part of southeastern Munich since then.

The Grünwalder Stadium is a recognized landmark that belongs to TSV 1860 Munich and draws sports fans to the area. This facility has shaped the neighborhood's identity for over a century and remains central to local life.

This district is served by the U2 and U7 metro lines as well as the S3 and S7 suburban trains for easy travel within the city. Public transportation connections make it simple to reach the city center and other neighborhoods.

The McGraw Kaserne, a former military base, housed American soldiers after World War II and left lasting cultural marks on the neighborhood. This site introduced foreign perspectives and influences that residents experienced in their daily lives.
