Alte Münze, Renaissance landmark in Münchner Altstadt, Munich, Germany

The Alte Münze exhibits Renaissance and Neoclassical elements with a four-wing structure arranged around an arcaded courtyard featuring red marble columns.

Built between 1563 and 1567 as royal stables, the building transformed into the Royal Bavarian Mint in 1809 under architect Johann Andreas Gärtner's renovation.

The ground floor contains three-naved halls with vaulted ceilings, while the second floor housed an art and curiosities chamber until the early 19th century.

The building now serves as headquarters for the Bavarian State Office for Monument Conservation, with its arcaded courtyard open to public viewing.

Swedish troops and their allies looted the building in 1632, leading to a period of decline until its complete closure as an art chamber in 1807.
