Pfistermühle

Pfistermühle is a mill in Munich's Old Town near Platzl square that features thick stone walls, wooden beams, and vaulted ceilings reflecting traditional Bavarian architecture. The building spans multiple levels and accommodates about 86 guests across four separate dining areas today.

Pfistermühle was originally built in 1573 as a ducal grain mill and served Munich's grain processing for centuries. The structure has since served various purposes before being converted to a dining establishment.

The building houses a restaurant today that prepares dishes with regional ingredients such as fish from Ammersee, beef from Upper Bavaria, and cheese from Tegernsee. The kitchen focuses on local traditions and local sourcing.

The restaurant is open on several days of the week and provides seating spread across multiple connected rooms with different characters. When planning a visit, check the opening times in advance and consider making a reservation if needed.

The restoration preserved the original stone flooring while handcrafted furniture made from traditional materials like felt and leather was integrated throughout. This blend of original material and artisanal details creates a special feeling inside.
