Orlando-Haus, Renaissance Revival residential building in Münchner Altstadt, Germany.
The Orlando-Haus is a five-story residential building featuring ornate decorations, white archways, and golden details throughout its German Renaissance Revival style. The ground floor and basement contain a restaurant and office spaces, while the upper levels house residential apartments.
Architect Max Littmann built the Orlando-Haus in 1900 on the site of a former residence belonging to Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso from the 16th century. The building was designed to honor the cultural legacy of this location in Munich.
The ground floor houses the restaurant Schuhbeck's Orlando, which maintains a strong connection to Munich's food culture and local social life.
The building is easily accessible on foot in the heart of Munich's Old Town with straightforward access. Visitors can admire the exterior facade or visit the ground floor restaurant.
In the early 1900s, the building served as a gathering place for Munich's theater community and attracted artists such as writer Erich Muhsam. This artistic past continues to shape the character of the place today.
