Aktien-Brauerei-Gesellschaft Friedrichshöhe, Industrial brewery complex in Friedrichshain, Germany
Aktien-Brauerei-Gesellschaft Friedrichshöhe is a former brewery complex in Friedrichshain with striking dark red brick buildings and a three-story administrative structure at the intersection of Landsberger Allee and Richard-Sorge-Strasse. The site comprises multiple production halls and storage buildings that together form a large industrial compound.
The brewery was established in 1856 and developed into one of the region's major production facilities. After 1945 it became part of the Soviet zone and later operated as VEB Getränkekombinat Berlin, ceasing production in 1991.
The complex embodies Berlin's industrial past and shows how important brewing was to the city's economy and identity. The buildings tell the story of when traditional craft and modern production came together.
The site was transformed from 2021 onward and now contains offices, artist studios, and exhibition spaces. The buildings are accessible by public paths and invite visitors to walk through the historic industrial architecture.
The complex housed one of Europe's most modern brewing facilities in 1912 with advanced production techniques. An experimental brewery laboratory from 1909 on the grounds served for developing new methods and recipes.
