Schongau, Medieval town in Bavaria, Germany
Located near the Alps at 710 meters elevation, Schongau extends along the Lech River between Landsberg am Lech and Füssen with 12,000 residents.
The settlement transferred from Altenstadt to its current location in the 13th century, establishing itself near the ancient Roman road Via Claudia Augusta.
