Ottobeuren

Ottobeuren is a market municipality in Unterallgäu, Bavaria, situated at roughly 660 meters in elevation southeast of Memmingen near the A7 motorway. The town encompasses approximately 55 square kilometers of land and administers several smaller localities within its boundaries.

The Benedictine abbey was founded in 764 and developed into a center of religious and cultural influence throughout southern Germany. This monastic institution shaped the region for centuries and left lasting architectural and economic marks on the area.

The town carries the designation of Kneippkurort, a status rooted in the water-cure methods developed by priest Sebastian Kneipp that remain woven into its wellness offerings today.
