Ottobeuren Abbey, Benedictine abbey in Ottobeuren, Germany
The abbey complex encompasses 250 rooms, 20 halls, and 6 courts, featuring three successive cupolas adorned with sculptures and religious paintings.
Founded in 764 by nobleman Silach, the abbey gained imperial status in 1299 and underwent major construction between 1737 and 1766 under architects Simpert Kraemer and Johann Fischer.
The abbey church hosts regular classical concerts in the Kaisersaal, presenting performances on the historical Riepp organ and the large Marienorgel instrument.
Visitors can attend organ concerts every Saturday at 4:00 PM in the basilica, exploring both the church interior and the decorated library with ceiling paintings.
The choir stalls within the church represent exceptional examples of Southern German Baroque craftsmanship, complemented by a Romanesque crucifix from 1220.
