Bornberg, Mountain summit in North Palatine Uplands, Germany
The Bornberg rises 520 meters above sea level and contains two summits, Kiefernkopf and Trautmannsberg, within the county of Kusel in Germany.
From 1840, multiple quarries operated on Bornberg under Basalt AG ownership until 1970, leading to the establishment of Schneeweiderhof worker settlement in 1924.
The Bornberg area reveals archaeological evidence of ancient settlements, including a Roman estate farm and Celtic community discovered during a 2002 rescue excavation.
A 151-meter telecommunication tower on Bornberg broadcasts radio programs, while a solar farm generating 1.5 MW covers four hectares near the county rubbish tip.
In 1972, engineers constructed a natural gas pipeline over Bornberg, creating an energy corridor connecting the Netherlands to Italy through German territory.
