Fort Fun Abenteuerland, Amusement park in Bestwig, Germany
Fort Fun Abenteuerland is an amusement park built on a forested plateau near Bestwig in the Sauerland region. The site spreads across hillsides and clearings, with rides positioned between pine trees and rock formations at an elevation of 430 meters.
The park opened in 1972 as Wild Western Paradise, initially focusing on cowboy themes and stunt performances. In later decades, the concept shifted to Fort Fun Abenteuerland, adding roller coasters and modern thrill rides.
The park incorporates Western themes throughout its architecture and entertainment, featuring daily shows with characters like Sheriff Fuzzy in the Western town section.
The park operates from April through November, with longer hours during summer months. Comfortable shoes are advisable due to slopes and pathways throughout the grounds.
A summer toboggan run descends 1.3 kilometers down the mountain and ranks among the longest of its kind in a European amusement park. The track winds through forest and open meadows with multiple curves and small jumps.
