Description
Burg Lahr is a medieval castle set on a wooded hilltop overlooking the Wied river valley in southern Hesse. A distinctive round stone tower marks the skyline and conveys a sense of the original defensive purpose of this position.

The fortification was built between 1300 and 1400, initially serving as a fief under the Counts of Isenburg. Control passed to the Counts of Nassau in 1449, marking a shift in regional power during the late medieval period.
