Burg Waldenstein

Burg Waldenstein is a stone fortress rising above the Wieslauftal valley at approximately 390 meters elevation. The castle operates today as a hotel with a restaurant serving regional cuisine, and features walls three meters thick that have endured for centuries.

The fortress was built before 1251 and served as a residence for Count Ulrich I of Württemberg during the 13th century. Ownership transferred to the Rudersberg community in 1792, marking a shift from noble hands to public stewardship.

The castle hosts theater performances, music concerts, and festivals in its grand knights' hall throughout the year. These cultural events draw visitors interested in experiencing local traditions and arts.
