Ebnisee, Mountain reservoir in Kaisersbach, Germany.
Ebnisee is a mountain reservoir in Kaisersbach surrounded by mixed woodland within the Swabian Forest. The lake spans about six hectares and its waters are suitable for swimming, fishing, and various water activities.
The reservoir was created in 1744 following a proposal to support timber transportation through the Welzheimer Wald region. It functioned as part of the region's economic activities until the mid-1800s when logging practices changed.
The Ebniseeverein organization conducts regular events called 'Ebnisee für Alle' that connect people through workshops and activities at the lakeside location.
The lake area provides parking and is easily accessible via woodland paths; facilities including restrooms, barbecue areas, and a kiosk are located around the shore. The best time to visit is from late spring through early autumn when weather is mild and all facilities are available.
The lake serves as a flood protection system, connected to the Wieslauf river to manage water levels during heavy rainfall. This regulatory function is visible through observation points and markers along the perimeter that explain how the system works.
