Burg Worringen

Burg Worringen is a medieval castle site in Worringen that survives today as ruins on an elevated mound. The remains show traces of the fortification's defensive layout, including the ditch system that once surrounded the structure.

The castle was built in 1275 by the local Worringen family but was destroyed in 1288 following major regional conflicts. This rapid decline ended its role in the area's power structures after just over a decade of existence.

The site reflects the power struggles between nobles and the Church that shaped this region during the 13th century. Visitors can sense how crucial such fortifications were for local rulers of that era.
