The Deutsches Theatermuseum is housed in the Churfürstlichen Gallerie building in Hofgarten and displays exhibitions about German theater history through props, costumes, and stage designs. The institution was founded in 1910 after actress Clara Ziegler donated her villa and her collection. Following wartime damage, the museum relocated to its current Hofgarten location in 1953.
