Sankt Peter Frankfurt, Protestant church building in Innenstadt, Frankfurt, Germany
Sankt Peter Frankfurt is a church building with a 68-meter (223-foot) tall spire located in downtown Frankfurt. The structure includes an event hall accommodating 1000 people, seminar rooms, and a cafeteria for visitors and event attendees.
An original structure dating from 1381 was demolished and rebuilt between 1891 and 1894 by architects Hans Grisebach and Georg Dinklage in neo-Renaissance style. The site previously served as a burial ground for the city until 1828.
The building operates as a youth cultural center and serves as a hub for concerts, exhibitions, and community events. This shift reflects how the church adapted to serve local audiences through contemporary cultural programming.
The building is open to the public and welcomes visitors for cultural events and gatherings throughout the year. Its location in the city center makes it easily accessible by walking routes or public transportation.
The churchyard holds graves of notable figures including printer Christian Egenolff and Johann Caspar Goethe, father of writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. These burials connect the site to Frankfurt's intellectual and artistic past.
