Dreieckiger Pfahl, Boundary marker in Goslar, Germany.
The Dreieckiger Pfahl is a granite boundary marker situated between Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. It rises approximately 1.35 meters high at an elevation of about 870 meters in the Harz region.
The stone originated in 1698 and was replaced multiple times over the centuries. The current marker was established before 1866 to separate the Kingdom of Hanover from the Duchy of Brunswick.
The stone displays carved letters KH for the Kingdom of Hanover on two sides and HB for the Duchy of Brunswick on the third side. These inscriptions tell of the territorial arrangement that once existed at this location.
The marker lies about 2.5 kilometers east of the B4 federal road parking area, between Torfhaus and Oderbrück. A rest area is nearby, making the location practical to visit.
A small restaurant operated at this location until April 1945, when American troops destroyed it. They had discovered enemy soldiers hiding in the nearby area.
