Dornburg, Archaeological site in Westerwald, Germany.
The Dornburg archaeological complex stands at 396 meters elevation and contains extensive remains of ancient settlement structures and defensive walls.
Celtic tribes established this fortified settlement during the La Tène period, occupying the site from the 5th to 1st century BC.
The site reveals information about Celtic defensive architecture and settlement patterns through its preserved circular rampart called Rödchensmauer.
Visitors can reach the archaeological site via Bundesstraße 54, which connects the major cities of Siegen and Limburg.
The location features a microclimate phenomenon called Ewiges Eis where ice formations persist throughout the year, discovered in 1839.
