St. Michael

St. Michael is a Catholic church in Dormagen built in a modern polygonal shape that opened in 1974. The building uses vertical windows that let light through the brick exterior and create bright patterns inside as the space draws toward the altar.

The site has religious roots going back to the 12th century, when earlier churches stood in this location. The current building was completed in 1974 and replaced the older structures with a new design.

The five bronze bells ring regularly with the Salve Regina melody and shape the sound of the neighborhood. These tones have become a familiar part of daily life for many residents.

The church is located on Kölner Strasse 38 and opens regularly for visitors, particularly during services. An information center on site helps visitors learn more about the community and upcoming events.

The building preserves parts of a neo-Gothic church wall in its interior courtyard, a quiet reminder of the earlier structure. These reused walls now form the transition between the old and new architecture.
