Emporio, Office building and cultural heritage monument in Neustadt, Hamburg, Germany.
Emporio is an office building and cultural heritage monument in Hamburg's Neustadt district, featuring three wings extending from a triangular central core. The structure rises across 24 floors and contains extensive commercial space in the city center.
The building was constructed in 1964 as the headquarters of Deutsche Unilever and received cultural heritage monument status in 2001. A comprehensive renovation between 2009 and 2012 adapted the structure for contemporary use while respecting its original character.
The restored foyer displays original elements like tetrahedron-shaped concrete ceiling parts and wood-paneled walls that reflect 1960s German architectural style. These details shape how the interior feels and represent the design choices that defined that era.
The building is easily accessible and centrally located in Hamburg, with good connections by public transportation. Visitors will find modern facilities and clear circulation through the various floors.
During renovation, workers replaced more than 2.700 facade elements while maintaining the building's original external appearance. This careful restoration work allowed the structure to meet modern environmental standards.
