Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten
Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Luxury hotel at Inner Alster Lake, Hamburg, Germany
Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is a grand hotel on the shore of the Inner Alster in Hamburg-Mitte. The classical facade in pale sandstone extends along Neuer Jungfernstieg and rooms are distributed across several floors with views of the water or surrounding streets.
The property opened in 1897 as a privately run hotel and quickly became one of the city's leading addresses. It survived both World Wars and underwent several renovations while largely preserving its original architecture.
The property takes its name from the four seasons, which appear in the interior through changing flower arrangements and seasonal decorations. Guests and visitors experience a combination of Hanseatic restraint and international hospitality reflected in the atmosphere of the public spaces.
The central location allows visitors to reach many sights on foot, including shopping arcades and harbor promenades. Those arriving by public transport will find Jungfernstieg and Gänsemarkt stations within a few minutes' walk.
On the roof of the building there is a beekeeping area whose honey is used in the hotel kitchen. The bees collect nectar in the nearby Alster Park and on the roof gardens of the surrounding area.
