Inselkirche Juist, Lutheran church building in Juist, Germany
The Inselkirche Juist is a modern brick building with baroque elements and stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes. The current structure was built in 1964 and stands on Wilhelmstraße on the North Sea island of Juist.
An earlier church from around 1400 had a 57-meter tower that served as a navigation landmark for ships. This tower was destroyed during the Petri flood of 1651 and vanished as a distinctive feature of the island.
The church hosts regular services and serves as a center for musical culture on the island. Throughout the year, concerts featuring two organs, a harpsichord, and a piano draw both visitors and locals.
Visitors can find the church at Wilhelmstraße 42 on the North Sea island of Juist, which is accessible by ferry. The interior and musical performances can be explored, though opening times and events should be checked in advance.
Inside, a mosaic titled 'Petri Fischzug' hangs above the altar and tells a special story. This artwork was created by an art teacher working together with students.
