Theaterhalle der Schule am Meer, School theater hall in Juist, Germany.
Theaterhalle der Schule am Meer is a reinforced concrete building and the largest structure of its kind in East Frisia. The interior housed spaces for music instruction, choir and orchestral rehearsals, and theatrical productions.
Built between 1930 and 1931, the structure was designed by Berlin architect Bruno Ahrends as a central training facility for theater educators in Germany. The project reflected new educational thinking about the role of performance arts in schooling.
The hall hosted student performances where movement, music, and theater came together as core parts of the school's teaching approach. Visitors can still sense how the space was designed for creative expression and learning through the arts.
Access to the hall is through the school grounds and depends on institutional schedules and permissions. Visitors should check in advance whether tours are available, as the building is primarily used for educational activities.
The building served as a training center for lay educators and theater practitioners under directives from the Prussian Ministry of Science, Culture, and Education. This role made it a hub for experimental theater pedagogy during the Weimar period.
