Wiwili Bridge, Road bridge in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.
The Wiwili Bridge is a road bridge in Freiburg that links the Stühlinger district to the city center and stands out for its distinctive blue painted iron structure. It spans railway tracks over a length of approximately 162 meters.
The bridge was built between 1885 and 1886 and was originally named Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge. Tram tracks ran across it until their removal in 1972.
The bridge holds two memorials that honor Jewish victims and those affected by political violence in Nicaragua, visible to anyone passing through.
Following a renovation in 2009 that raised the structure, it is now easy to cross on foot or by bike. The bridge serves as a main pathway for people moving between western Freiburg and downtown.
People gather on the bridge for tango dancing sessions and use it as a viewpoint toward the Sacred Heart Church. This unexpected artistic use makes it a living meeting place for dancers and performers.
