Kurpark Burtscheid, Public park in Aachen-Mitte, Germany
Kurpark Burtscheid is a green landscape spread across several levels with historic buildings, wide paths, and quiet spaces for resting. The different areas connect to one another and invite walking and exploring.
This site began in the late 18th century around natural thermal springs that drew people seeking healing. These thermal baths have shaped its appearance and purpose to this day.
The name Burtscheid comes from the healing thermal waters that drew people for centuries. Today, the old bath buildings and pavilions show the enduring connection between water, healing, and leisure culture in this region.
The park is just a short walk from Aachen's main train station and easy to reach on foot. There is a restaurant with outdoor seating within the park grounds where visitors can eat and drink.
Over 15 natural thermal springs once flowed freely throughout the park, making water the heart of the site. Today most of these springs are no longer active, but their former locations still shape how the grounds are laid out.
