Kograben, Medieval hillfort system in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
The Kograben consists of an earthen rampart with a wooden palisade and a V-shaped ditch extending from Selk Noor to Rheide Au river.
During the Viking Age, King Harald Bluetooth of Denmark ordered the construction of Kograben in the late 10th century as part of the Danevirke defense system.
The fortification represents the convergence of Danish, Frisian, Saxon, and Slavic influences in the border region between Scandinavia and Central Europe.
Visitors can access the site through Rheider Weg, where directional signs guide them to view the remaining earthworks and defensive structures.
Natural elements including rivers, swamps, and lakes were incorporated into the fortification design, creating an integrated defense network across the landscape.
