Petruskapelle Alexisbad, Neoclassical wooden church in Harzgerode, Germany
The Petruskapelle Alexisbad features a central rotunda with four lower quadratic annexes, covered in yellow wooden cladding and zinc sheet metal roofing.
Originally constructed between 1812 and 1815 as a teahouse for Duke Alexius, the building was transformed into a chapel following orders from Duchess Friederike of Anhalt-Bernburg.
The chapel contains an altar painting that copies a Saint Peter depiction by Dresden court painter Anton Raphael Mengs.
Since 1999, the Petruskapelle Alexisbad hosts regular concerts and civil marriage ceremonies, making it a central location for community gatherings.
The chapel survived the Selke River flood of April 1994 without damage while the rest of Alexisbad was submerged under water.
