Schnitger organ in St. Cosmae, Baroque pipe organ in St. Cosmae church, Stade, Germany

The Hus-Schnitger organ features three manuals and 42 speaking stops, incorporating intricate woodwork details throughout its Hamburg-style facade design.

Built between 1670 and 1675 by Berendt Hus and his nephew Arp Schnitger, this organ replaced an earlier instrument destroyed in the city fire of 1659.

Vincent Lübeck served as the first organist for 30 years, establishing the instrument's reputation through performances of North German Baroque repertoire.

Regular organ concerts take place in St. Cosmae church, where visitors can experience the instrument's original pipes and reed ranks from the 17th century.

The organ maintains its original tuning from 1675, set one whole tone higher than standard pitch, creating a distinct sound characteristic.
