Schloss Thorn, Medieval château in Palzem, Germany

The stone castle stands on a hillock overlooking the Moselle valley and Saargau region, positioned near the Luxembourg border across from Remich.

Romans constructed a guard tower on this strategic location to protect a river ford, with the Latin word turris later influencing the castle's name.

The residence belongs to the Barons von Hobe-Gelting family, who maintain vineyards on the property that have belonged to them since 1534.

Visitors can explore the architectural evolution of the structure, which incorporates Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, and Empire period design elements.

The castle grounds contain Europe's last preserved tree wine press and represent the oldest castle vineyard location along the Moselle River.
