Schloss Wahn, Manor house in Wahn district, Cologne, Germany
Schloss Wahn is a three-wing manor house in the late Baroque style, located in the Porz-Wahn district of Cologne. Its wings are arranged around inner courtyards, forming a single connected compound on Burgallee.
The site was first recorded in 1358 as property of the Revelen family, and at that time it had a residential tower, a gateway building, a moat, and a fortified outer area. Over the following centuries, this medieval layout was gradually replaced by the Baroque structure that stands today.
The University of Cologne has used the building for events and academic gatherings since the 1950s, giving it a role that goes beyond a simple historic house. Visitors who walk around the grounds can see students and researchers coming and going through spaces that still serve daily university life.
The building sits in Cologne's Porz-Wahn district and can be reached by road or by train. The ground floor historical rooms are not open to the public, so it is worth checking with the university before planning a visit.
Although the building now serves the university, it occasionally hosts concerts in select historical rooms alongside academic events. This combination of music and scholarship inside a Baroque manor is unusual for the region.
