Schloss Ovelgönne is a Renaissance water castle featuring a rectangular footprint surrounded by a protective moat. The structure displays symmetrical window arrangements and traditional architectural details characteristic of 17th-century design.

The estate was first documented in 922 and remained under control of Abdinghofen Monastery in Paderborn for centuries. It subsequently passed through the hands of several noble families before significant changes occurred in the 20th century.
