Potts park, Family amusement park in Minden, Germany
Potts Park is an amusement park in Minden, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, lying at the edge of the Wiehen Hills and aimed mainly at families with young children. The grounds are divided into several areas, including rides, play zones, and the Terra Phenomenalis science center.
Karl Heinrich Pott opened the site in 1969 on former mining grounds, creating a transport-themed leisure space with vehicles and machines from the 20th century. Over the following decades, it grew into a family park with a wider range of attractions.
The Terra Phenomenalis is a hands-on science area inside the park where visitors can try out physical phenomena and optical illusions for themselves. The stations are designed so that anyone can engage with them, regardless of age or background.
The park is open seasonally, and weekdays are generally less busy than weekends, so they are a good time to visit if you want more space. Comfortable shoes are a good idea, as the grounds are large and most of the visit is done on foot.
The park has a Giant Apartment where furniture and everyday objects are built at twice their normal size, which makes ordinary things feel completely foreign. Walking through the rooms changes how you perceive your own body in relation to the space around you.
