Schloss Haddenhausen, Renaissance château in Minden, Germany
Schloss Haddenhausen is a manor house in the Weser Renaissance style featuring two wings and an octagonal stair tower. The sandstone construction displays Italian roofs, decorated gables, and ornamental details across the facades.
The building was constructed between 1613 and 1616 under architect Eberhard Wilkening for the von dem Bussche family. It replaced earlier structures on this site that had been destroyed in 1530.
The castle displays the Weser Renaissance style that developed in the region during a period of economic growth. Visitors can see the characteristic features of this era in the decorated facades and roof designs.
The castle is located along Schlossweg in central Minden and is easily accessible on foot. Visits happen mainly during heritage days and concert events, so check opening dates in advance.
The approach to the castle crosses a stone bridge supported by cast iron pillars from the 19th century. The archway entrance itself is decorated with stone reliefs that many visitors overlook.
