Bad Oeynhausen, Therapeutic spa town in Minden-Lübbecke District, Germany
Bad Oeynhausen is a spa town in the Minden-Lübbecke District of North Rhine-Westphalia, known for its natural brine springs and treatment centers. The town stretches along the Werre river and offers park areas as well as wellness centers focused on healing waters.
The first brine spring was discovered here in 1839 and quickly transformed the area into a health resort. Development into a recognized spa town took place over the following decades with the construction of bathhouses and clinics.
The town takes its name from a nearby manor called Oeynhausen that once stood in the area. Today you see spa guests strolling through the parks or pausing at the drinking fountains where thermal water can be tasted.
The information center provides details about accommodations and the different treatments available at the thermal baths. Paths through the green spaces are mostly level and well suited for walking.
The Jordansprudel spring brings the largest known deposit of carbonated thermal brine water to the surface worldwide. The bubbling water supplies several clinics and baths throughout the town.
